WHAT IS HIFU 5D?

Painless solution to ageing skin

HIFU, which stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, is a non-invasive therapeutic technique for skin tightening that employs non-ionizing ultrasonic waves to heat tissue. It is a painless (non-surgical) replacement for face lifts.

HIFU uses ultrasound energy to encourage the production of collagen, which results in firmer skin.

Benefits of HIFU 5D:

  • Wrinkle reduction
  • Tightening sagging skin on the neck (sometimes called turkey neck)
  • Lifting the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids
  • Enhancing jawline definition
  • Tightening of the décolletage
  • Smoothing the skin

Within the medical field, ultrasound treatments have been used for more than 50 years now, and HIFU has been established as a well-accepted and effective treatment in clinical studies with more than half a million of treatments performed worldwide.

How Does it Work?

HIFU stimulates collagen production by delivering focused ultrasound energy to ‘non-surgically’ lift and tighten the skin’s foundation layer without any incision to the surface of the skin. It uses ultrasound energy to encourage the production of collagen, which results in firmer skin.

The results of the treatment are gradual but continue to improve over time and offer long lasting results. It takes time for collagen to regenerate, tighten and mature, and the rate and degree of improvement may vary between individuals.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

For optimal results we recommend 3 sessions spaced throughout 2 months. We recommend the second session to be 21 days after the first, and the third sessions 2 months after.

Kalo’s 5D HIFU

At Kalo we employ the latest innovative technology, an automatic 5D HIFU machine which can target up to 40 lines at once. This means the treatment is much more accurate and the results far exceed those of the manual and other HIFU machines.

Our brand new 5D HIFU machine is the latest and most innovative HIFU treatment. Its unique cooling hand piece allows for a completely pain free and comfortable experience. The higher energy frequency ensures that this treatment is more effective and 2-4 times faster than traditional 3D and 4D HIFU, firing up to 500 shots in just minutes.

Advantages of 5D HIFU

HIFU and other nonsurgical alternatives to facelifts have seen a major increase in popularity over the last few years. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the total number of procedures performed has increased 64.8 percent between 2012 and 2017.

HIFU has many aesthetic benefits, including:

  • Wrinkle reduction
  • Tightening sagging skin on the neck (sometimes called turkey neck)
  • Lifting the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids
  • Enhancing jawline definition
  • Tightening of the décolletage
  • Smoothing the skin

In 2017, a study involving 32 Korean people showed that HIFU significantly improved skin elasticity of the cheeks, lower abdomen, and thighs after 12 weeks.

In a larger study of 93 people, 66 percent of those treated with HIFU perceived an improvement in the appearance of their face and neck after 90 days.

Will 5D HIFU work for me?

Generally, the procedure works best and is more appropriate for people older than 30 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity.

People with photodamaged skin or with a high degree of loose (sagging) skin may need several treatments before seeing satisfactory results.

Older people with more extensive photo-aging, severe skin laxity, or extreme saggy skin on the neck aren’t good candidates and may need surgery.

People with infections and open skin lesions at the target area, severe or cystic acne, and/or metallic implants in the treatment area should avoid HIFU treatment.

Are there side effects?

Minor side effects have been reported with HIFU, however some slight redness or swelling may occur, but it should subside quickly. A light tingling sensation and/or temporary numbness of the treated area may persist for a few weeks.

Cost of 5D HIFU treatment in Malaysia?

In Malaysia, the prices of HIFU treatments vary from RM1,800 – RM8,000 per session depending on the number of treated regions, the number of shots and other factors shown below.

  • Smaller area will cost less as compared to a bigger area e.g. full face + neck
  • If you have more severe saggy skin, you will require more HIFU shots
